Best night ever

Dance FEVER!!! As you probably heard from all my shouting from the rooftops, I got to go to the So You Think You Can Dance live tour this year! This show had the dancers from Season 5...Jeannine, Jeannette, Brandon, Ade, Melissa, Kayla, Evan, and that bunch...some of my all time favorite dancers from the show. It was a GREAT night. I started the evening off right by taking the afternoon off so I could change clothes, get myself in the right frame of mind, and forget all about work. I met up with my friends (some fellow obsessors) and the four of us were already on our second round of margaritas at Gloria's in Oak Cliff by the time the rest of society was getting off work.

I love love love the girls I went with....my friend Christina, and my co-workers Josie and Shashawn. I know all three girls separately, but they were just acquaintances of one another before that evening. I wasn't sure how the four of us would mesh, but it ended up being the perfect group. We talked and laughed NONSTOP for the drive down to Oak Cliff, the two hours we spent at Gloria's, the drive to Nokia in Grand Prairie, and right up until the start of the show. Just spending time hanging out with those three ladies was a blast on its own...and then there was still the show!

AAAHHHHHHH the show was so exciting! Even though Cat and Nigel's voices were all pre-recorded, I cannot explain how thrilling it was to hear the theme song playing at full blast with the lights and the stage and all of the excitement swirling...I got goosebumps I was so filled with anticipation at the start of the show. It was so neat to see all of the dancers I loved right there on the stage doing all of our favorite routines.

One of the funniest things of the night was the guy sitting right next to me...a smallish older man, maybe in his 60's, wearing a flannel plaid shirt and Wranglers...who apparently is also Season 5's biggest Super Fan. He cheered and hollered and whistled and critiqued his way through the entire show...we were DYING laughing. His conservative looking wife sat quietly next to him, clutching her handbag with pursed lips for the entire show...it was just too funny to see the two of them.

Oh, and as an added bonus, the rest of the world was at the show too! Each of us in my group ran into several people we knew. Within 5 minutes of walking in, I bumped into Melissa, a friend from high school who I had not seen in 15 years. My friend Chalna was sitting with her friends just a few rows behind us. It was just such a great night, and I will definitely be going back next season!

Although, I learned the hard way that my middle-aged self cannot handle any sort of mid-week excitement. I had 3 drinks and was home by midnight...and I was totally WIPED OUT on Thursday. How embarrassing. It was absolutely pitiful how zombie-like I was at work the next day. Thank goodness I was not alone...apparently we were all dragging that day! But it was definitely worth it...next year I will just know to take an extra day off!
