Snow day!!

It SNOWED last week! As in, REALLY snowed...the kind of snow we never get around here. I only remember a handful of days growing up when we had this same sort of fluffy, beautiful, abundant snow...normally our snow days are usually ICE days. I have so many wonderful memories of those treasured few snow days...ruining my mom's cookie sheets by stealing them to slide down the driveway, wrapping plastic bread bags around our shoes and gloves to keep them dry, building snowmen, and spending ages outside but never seeming to get cold or wet. I spent most of my snow days at my friend Allison's house. She lived on the golf course, which was the PRIME place to live if there was snow...we would sled down the hills and sandtraps and spend hours playing together.

Thursday morning it started snowing just after 5 a.m. and it didn't stop for one minute the entire day! David and I both left work a little early, so we still had an hour of daylight to get Gabby bundled up and have a little fun. It was snowing just a little too much for me...I enjoy playing in the snow, but not being steadily showered with it! We built a snowman and played in the backyard. We trampled all over the backyard and had tons of bare patches from our snowman-building, but by the next morning, everything was covered with a fresh blanket of snow again. David had to go into work on Friday, so Gabby and I enjoyed our first official snow day together. I hope she remembers it...because it is probably going to be a very long time before we have snow like this again!

Hard at work, playing with her beach toys in the snow.

Also hard at work...he was WAY too serious about the engineering of Mr. Snowman!

I had to really dig to find snowman materials. The eyes are shredded wheat, the mouth is a bent Airhead left over from Halloween, and we actually did have a carrot for the nose. And whoops, we forgot to give him arms.

Drying out Gabby's sock mittens (we could not find ANY of her mittens!) by the fire

Friday morning we made snow cream:

It was goooooood...

Mr. Snowman didn't survive the night very well. Here's Gabby, getting ready to put him out of his misery for good.

Watching as she makes tracks in the snow

We have NO snow pants, just multiple layers of regular pants. They were completely soaked through when we finally came in, because Gabby kept wanting to totally sit in the snow.

EVERYTIME I looked over, Gabby was eating snow.

She just kept shoveling it in.

We attempted a snow angel...as you can see, it didn't quite turn out.

Busy bee

Help, help...I can't get up! HA!
